A teenager has suffered life-threatening head injuries after he was part of a group struck by a car in a hit-and-run.

The 18-year-old was left in a critical condition when he was struck with three others the same age in Torquay, Devon, on Friday night.

Devon and Cornwall Police said a blue Vauxhall Tigra collided with the four teens before hitting a parked car. The driver then fled on foot.

They said armed response and roads policing officers attended the scene together with scenes of crime and forensic collision investigators.

Police dogs and a helicopter also assisted but were unable to locate the driver, who remains at large.

A spokesman said: “One man is in a critical condition having sustained life-threatening head injuries.

"A second man has sustained serious leg and hip injuries and both remain in Derriford Hospital.

"Police are appealing for witnesses and wish to hear from anyone who may have any CCTV or dashcam footage that could assist."
