Diane Abbott's son accused of assaulting doctors, nurses and police over 6 months

The son of Shadow Home Secretary Diane Abbott has been charged with nine counts of assault, one of racially aggravated criminal damage and one of of exposure.

James Abbott-Thompson, 28, appeared in court yesterday accused of a string of violent assaults over a period of six months.

Thames magistrates' court was told most of the incidents were allegedly committed whilst he was being treated for mental health issues.

The full set of charges Mr Abbott Thompson faces are;

· July 26, 2019 - Assault by beating of emergency services worker at Homerton Hospital - assaulted a police officer

· July 26, 2019 -Assault by beating of emergency services worker on Middleton Road - assaulted a police officer

· July 26, 2019 - Assaulted a person causing them actual bodily harm within the London borough of Hackney

· August 7, 2019 - Assaulted a person causing them actual bodily harm at the Royal Free Hospital 

· August 7, 2019 - Assault by beating at the Royal Free Hospital

· August 8, 2019 - Assault by beating in Mile End Hospital - assaulted a Doctor

· October 27, 2019 - Exposure at Homerton Hospital

· November 7, 2019 - Assault by beating of emergency services worker at Homerton Hospital - assaulted a nurse

· November 7, 2019 - Racially/religiously aggravated criminal damage at Homerton Hospital - destroyed prescription spectacles

· November 8, 2019 - Assault by beating of emergency services worker at Homerton Hospital - assaulted a police officer

· December 23, 2019 - Assault by beating of an emergency services worker on Bevan Ward, Homerton Hospital – assaulted a social therapist.

Mr Abbott-Thomson has been granted bail ahead of a further hearing at Wood Green Crown Court next month.
