Police in Essex are looking for two men in connection with a hate crime against a transgender woman in Chelmsford

Officers received a call on Monday 19 August from a transgender woman who claims she was verbally abused by two men on Sandford Road in Chelmsford.

The police have released images of two men who they believe are connected with the incident, and have issued an appeal to find them.

In a statement, Essex Police said: "We would like to talk to these men in connection with a hate crime in Chelmsford involving a transgender woman.

"We received a call at around 9.55am on Monday 19 August with reports that two men made comments to the woman that caused alarm and distress as she walked off Sandford Road.

"We would continue to encourage anyone who has been the victim of a hate crime to contact us on 101 or 999 in an emergency."

Anyone with information about the incident can call Chelmsford Community Policing Team on 101 quoting crime reference 42/133250/19.
