Firefighters are battling an enormous fire that has engulfed an industrial building in Reading.

Photos of the incident on social media show huge flames and smoke billowing from the area on Stadium Way, in Tilehurst.

In a statement, Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed its firefighters were on the scene to tackle the blaze.

Reading City Football Club said the fire did not affect its Rivermoor grounds in a tweet responding to concerned fans who noted its location nearby.

The club said: "Thankfully the ground is fine and the fire is on Stadium Way Trading Estate at the other side of the railway tracks from us."

It is not currently clear what caused the fire, or whether anyone has been injured.
