Four people have died and five were injured after two gunmen opened fire at a bar in Kansas City.

Officers were called out to the Tequila KC Bar in the early hours of Sunday morning, where they discovered nine people had been shot.

Police say the shooter entered the bar and began firing indiscriminately, with four people shot dead at the scene and five others taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Kansas City police are investigating the incident and gave brief details on their Twitter account.

Police confirmed to reporters that the weapon used was a handgun.

No-one has been arrested in connection with incident and the authorities said they did not know if there had been more than one gunman.

The local Bureau for Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are also responding to the scene.

The motive for the shooting was also unknown.

Kansas Senator Pat Roberts tweeted: "Franki and I are saddened by the senseless shooting that took place in Kansas City early this morning.
