The father of a boy who went missing from a service station on the M1 has thanked more than 1,000 people who helped police in their search.

The boy was found at around 4.15am today after disappearing from the Newport Pagnell services on the M1 near Milton Keynes.

His father said today he was “thankful to everyone” who turned up to help find his son.

Thames Valley police also offered thanks to locals who “immediately offered help” in the search.

The police helicopter was deployed on Friday night to help find the boy, along with police, members of the fire service and the public.

Supt Amy Clements, said: "This was a very difficult operation involving a very young boy and we are relieved to say that he has been found safe and well.

"I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the local community, who immediately offered help in trying to find him."
