A man has been put in an induced coma after being punched outside a gentlemen's club in Maidenhead.

Thames Valley Police said the victim was assaulted "by one man" outside The Honeypot club on Queen Street at about 4am Saturday morning.

It is currently "unclear" how many times the man was punched, however TVP confirmed to LBC News he hit his head as he fell to the ground.

The victim is in a serious condition in hospital and has a bleed on the brain.

Officers are conducting enquiries at the scene and reviewing CCTV footage of the assault.

The victim's family are being supported by police.

Investigating officer, Detective Inspector Penny MacKenzie said: "I am appealing to anyone with information about this an incident of grievous bodily harm to come forward as soon as possible.

"If anyone witnessed the assault then I would urge them to contact the police, as they may have vital information that can aid our investigation.

"I also want to speak to anyone who was out with the victim last night into the early hours of this morning, as this will help us build up a picture of what happened."

People with information can contact the police on 101, quoting the investigation reference number 220 (28/12), or leave information on the Thames Valley Police website.
