One man has died and another is in a critical condition in hospital after being pulled from the river near Kew Bridge following witness reports they jumped off.

The Met Police said officers attended and found two males found in the water.

Both men were pulled from the river by Chiswick RNLI, one was pronounced dead at the scene, the other was taken to a west London hospital.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed they had taken the injured man to hospital.

They said: "We sent two ambulance crews, an incident response officer, two medics in cars and an advanced paramedic to the scene. We also dispatched our hazardous area response team (HART) and London's Air Ambulance.

"We treated two men at the scene. Sadly, despite the efforts of medics, a man died at the scene."

Witnesses described seeing incident response vehicles and fire engines rushing towards the bridge just after 1pm on Monday.
