All 11 judges agreed Boris Johnson's advice to the Queen to suspend Parliament was "unlawful" and that prorogation was "void and of no effect," said Lady Hale.
The highest court in the UK concluded that "Parliament has not been prorogued" because no justification was offered by the government for the length of suspension.
Prorogation was "unlawful because it had the effect of frustrating or preventing the ability of Parliament to carry out its constitutional functions without reasonable justification," announced Lady Hale.
MPs will now be free to take their seats in the House of Commons.
"This prolonged suspension of parliamentary democracy took place in quite exceptional circumstances," said Lady Hale.
"Parliament, and in particular the House of Commons as the elected representatives of the people has a right to a voice in how that change comes about."
It is now up to Parliament to decide what to do next, with Speaker John Bercow saying the House of Commons "must convene without delay."
