A young child has died after falling from a fourth-floor flat in a tower block during his third birthday party, his family say.

Edward Popadiuc died in hospital after the fall at Bridge Court in Harrow, north-west London, last Friday.

His father Alexandru said: “I don’t want to cry any more, I do it all day and all night. He is our angel now.”

Mary Da Costa, the Manager of Little Aisha Nursery across the road, said her staff members administered first aid to try and save Edward but he "sadly passed."

A GoFundMe page set up to help pay for funeral costs has raised more than £13,000 so far.

A London Ambulance Service spokesman said:"We were called at 1:07pm on 1 November to reports of a child injured on Stanley Road, Harrow.

"We dispatched a number of resources to the scene including an incident response officer and an advanced paramedic.

"Crews treated a child at the scene and took them to hospital as a priority."

Last Thursday another toddler died after falling from a flat in Tottenham, North London.

Police were called to Stellar House in Tottenham High Road where they found the boy aged around 18 months in critical condition.

The London ambulance service, London fire brigade and air ambulance attended and the child was taken to a North London hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Residents in the block said the boy had fallen after opening a window in the flat on the ninth floor.

A neighbour said that the child’s mother had been complaining about a faulty handle on. The window “for two months” but nothing had been done.
