The US President will attend a reception hosted by the Queen when he visits the UK for a NATO summit in December.

The White House has confirmed that President Trump will be amongst the NATO leaders attending a reception at Buckingham Palace when he comes to the UK from 2-4 December.

In a statement, the president is said to be "looking forward" to the summit.

It also says the President will be emphasising the need for the alliance to combat cyber threats and terrorism.

Mr Trump has on multiple occasions expressed concerns that other countries are not putting enough funding into the NATO alliance.

Leaders will be attending the reception hosted by the Queen on 3 December before discussing security challenges the following day.

NATO Security General Jens Stoltenberg says the will "ensure that NATO continues to adapt in order to keep its population of almost one billion people safe".

Mr Stoltenberg also said London was a fitting host for the alliance's 70th anniversary as it is where the first headquarters were based.

President Trump previously met the Queen in June this year at a banquet at Buckingham Palace.

The state visit sparked mass protests, which included a Trump baby blimp, with thousands rallying in London's Parliament Square.

A number of politicians also refused to attend the banquet with Mr Trump, including Jeremy Corbyn, John Bercow and Sir Vince Cable.

In an exclusive interview with Nigel Farage on LBC, Mr Trump spoke about his love for the Queen, saying she is “perfect.”
